  For those persons interested in owning a contemporary, one-of-a-kind stairway, there are few companies capable of matching
the craftsmanship and beauty of the stairs that RippleCraft has to offer.Custom made to order in our factory, a RippleCraft Stairway combines the traditional colorings and textures of wood but presents them with contemporary flair. Pricing varies with the materials chosen and the overall dimensions of the project.  A staircase provides more than a means to travel and there are many considerations that must be made in designing one. First of all, will the stair be functional? What will meet building code and what will provide the proper traffic flow? Secondly, how much room is available for the staircase? Will a straight stair be more efficient in the space available than a spiral and which stair design will better fit within the design theme of the home itself?  What about the cost? Well, the cost of any stairway will obviously vary with the requirements of the stairs and with any special features requested. A standard straight timber stairs with 4" x 12" stringers and treads, built in our factory and installed locally, will cost approximately $1,000 without railings. A one story spiral staircase will begin in the neighborhood of $8,000 installed locally with our standard railings included. (If you want to make your own spiral railings we applaud you and will step aside, just make certain you have adequate money budgeted for aspirin.) Some other options available would include using round stair treads and stringers, mixed species treads and the type and style of railing. An open straight stairway will be built without any risers while a closed straight stairway will include risers. A spiral stairway can rotate around several different sized columns. The list of options goes on and on and can only be addressed adequately on a project by project basis.  Things truly get fun when we are allowed to dream a little. The concept drawing to the left helps indicate how project specific and grand a staircase can be. This concept drawing includes features present in our standard straight staircases but also incorporates a three story column typically found in our spiral staircases.A staircase can be so much more than simply a way to get from one place to another--it can be a signature piece in your home.
