The 8" Round log is our most popular profile. This log style is milled from an 8" by 8" timber and after milling will lay 7" high. As is true with all of our log profiles, there is no additional space milled between the logs for the insertion of splining or gaskets. The ripple system is a wood on wood system. Only a small bead of expanding foam is inserted on the outside ripple of each log for an added air infiltration barrier.

The 10" Round profile is a wonderful compromise between the 8" logs used in most smaller homes and the hefty 12" round logs that look best in a larger home. Milled from a 10" x 10" timber, each 10" log lays 8 3/4 inches high. Typically speaking, a 10" log package will cost approximately 30% more than an 8" log package.

Many home buyers are concerned that an inside round surface will make it more difficult to get pictures to hang straight. RippleCraft's precision milling renders this concern invalid as the innermost point of each log surface is square with the rest of the logs in the same wall.

The 12" Round Log was designed for those people who love the big log look but who do not want to enter into an endless battle with shrinking logs and the problems they can cause. RippleCraft is one of only a few milled-log manufacturers that can produce logs in sizes this large. Cut from a 12" by 12" timber, the finished log will lay 10 3/4" high.

A 12" log package price will be approximately 50% more than an 8" log package for a home of similar size.

The D-style profile is available in an 8" log. The D-style log wall has a v-groove between the logs approximately 1/2" wide. This is the style most commonly selected by people who insist upon having a flat wall on the inside of their home.

The Early American Log profile is designed specifically to provide a more rustic look while maintaining the overall building integrity that only the ripple and interlocking corner can provide. Read more about it by clicking here.

When a person buys a dovetail log they are buying not only a rectangular log but also a dovetail cornering system. The RippleCraft dovetail log preserves the rippled spline but incorporates it into the signature dovetail corner. This log system is available in a 6"x12" for larger homes, and a 4"x8" for smaller cabins and storage buildings. If chinking is desired we will mill a narrow channel into the log surface to be filled with chinking. The application of chinking is for cosmetic purposes only and is not at all necessary to preserve the integrity of the air infiltration barrier between the logs.
